Project Demonstration
FLAGSHIP concepts and tools integrated in the whole value chain will be exhaustively tested in a real operation environment in Marine Energy Test (MET) Centre’s offshore wind test site in Norway, which will be operated by UNITECH Offshore during the project lifetime. A step-by-step demonstration and validation strategy will be implemented to validate the developments as a global pre-commercial floating offshore wind farm.
Industrial value chain in real scenarios
Bellow you will find the description of the demonstrations that will be carried out in FLAGSHIP, grouped by areas and demo site:
Site 1. Dry Dock construction:
The fabrication site is planned in the dry-dock at Kvaerner Stord Fabrication Yard, North of Haugesund on the west‐coast of Norway. After the lower section is completed, the dry dock will be flooded and the concrete structure will be towed away.
Site 2. Inshore assembly
Upper sections of the columns will be constructed with the floater moored to the quayside at Eldøyane, near the dry dock. The water depth (>20m) is sufficient for the later assembly of the tower and turbine.
Site 3. Offshore (Demo location)
The demonstration will be located in the Marine Energy Test (MET) Centre from Norway. Here are its technical details:
- Wind (+65 m Sea Water Level) = 41,7 m/s
- Wave (50yr): Hs=12,9 m, Tp=16 sec.
- Current (50 yr) surface: 1,67 m/s
- Distance to shore: approx. 10‐13 km
- Water depth: 220 m
- Seabed: Clay, soft soil,
- Marine growth: +2 to 40m: 60mm; Below ‐40: 30mm
